NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome and Happy 2024!

I am so excited to think of the possibilities of this 2024 Election Year and what may lie ahead for us. 

Consider for a moment, that Republican Women of DuPage County could be a part of our Country’s history in 2024!  How can we do this?

We can Unite together in support of one another; and in support of assisting in the election of our conservative Candidates. It is a tumultuous time in our local community and our global world. It is a time filled with uncertainty. However, together and through our mutual efforts we can help make change happen.

As I write, I wondered how many of us have actually ever thought of what is required of a Candidate running for a political position?  Personally, I can only imagine. . .  However, the following was my observation during the 2020 General Election as a new Precinct Committee person. 

• The Candidate must be dedicated to his/her cause and belief that they can make a positive difference in the lives of their constituents. 

• Qualification Requirements that must be met by the Candidate.  The number of required Voters’ signatures on petitions range from 10 to 100’s of signatures depending on the office the Candidate is seeking. The signatures must be obtained by a person – not electronically.

• The Candidate is required to submit specific documents by a set deadline.   

• The Candidate must sacrifice their time away from family, and friends; and step away from certain responsibilities. 

• The Candidate must expend tireless energy and efforts.

• The Candidate must meet the high cost of campaigning.

• Some Candidates are required to quit their current job, which means they face unemployment if their campaign is not successful.

To list what and who has taken our Country from where it was 4 years ago would be an easy task for most of us, but included in that analysis must be an honest evaluation of how our Country and Her People reached its current condition. 

If we want change – we must find the time to effect that change. 

We must dedicate our efforts in support of our Candidates.  Few Candidates succeed without the help of amazing Volunteers.
